Where and how to use Pamukkale Travertine?

If you are not a Turkish or Italian resident then it will be really hard for you to understand the terms of Pamukkale Travertine. If you divide this term into two words as Pamukkale and Travertine then Pamukkale means “cotton castle” and the Travertine is a kind of sedimentary stone.  But what’s special with the full term composed of these two words. Actually Pamukkale is a place in Turkey located in the Denizli Province in the Southwestern region of Turkey. It is the city with hot springs and heavy resources of calcium carbonates. The combination of mineral springs and calcium carbonates produce sedimentary stone known as Travertine. This is the reason the city is popular as Pamukkale Travertine. The city is located in the region of Aegean and besides River Menderes so you can find temperate climate for whole year. It is known as the paradise for tourists and people love to enjoy their holidays in the pools of Pamukkale Travertine.

The ancient cities of Byzantine and Hierapolis can be seen from the top of the hills in the Denizli town. Some hotels have been built on these ancient ruins of Hierapolis in past but soon the area was declared as World Heritage site so now those hotels have been demolished. Now you can find some artificial pools at this place. You are not allowed to wear shoes in the pool water to provide protection against mineral deposits.
