Sumela is a monastery that is located in Trabzon, Turkey. It is located in at 1200 meters height at Macka region, on a steep cliff. This monastery is around 1600 years old and is built by the rocks that were made available there following a forest path.
Here when you reached this Sumela Monastery you will see that there are biblical scenes of Virgin Mary and Christ on its walls. This site was given the status of museum and after that time it serves as a great attraction for the tourists from all around the world every year. 15 August 2010, was the day when Turkish government allowed the Orthodox Mass to take place here after 1923. So at that time there is large number of people present on the occasion. There are people from other parts of the world too who took part in that ceremony at Sumela Monastery. So if you are making a plan to visit Turkey, then you must have to visit this place as well because here you feel a special kind of inner peace.
